Hi friends

There's something about me that drives my older brother slightly mad.

He'll tell me something… a decision he's made, something that happened, something he's planning to do…

And my response is almost always the same.

"Why?"

Not in a challenging way… not trying to catch him out. I'm just genuinely interested.

Why did you choose that? What made you think that was the right move? How did you land there?

It comes from a place of wanting to understand… the thinking behind things, the reasoning, the psychology of it all.

He knows that.

Still drives him mad 😄

Gerard and Blue… same energy, very different patience levels 😄🐾

I've always been like this.

It's why I ended up studying psychology… because I've never been able to just accept things at face value.

I don't really believe in "that's just how it is."

I want to know how we got here.

What decisions were made. What trade-offs happened. What assumptions were baked in.

And more importantly… are those good reasons? Or just… convenient ones?

And if I'm honest… that same question is exactly what led me to Dog Blueprints.

"Why?"

Why is kibble the default food for dogs? Why do we feed them the way we do? Why are the ingredients what they are? Why is it made the way it's made?

And more importantly… is this actually the best we can do for them?

Because when you step back and look at it… this isn't a small industry. It's a massive one. Billions.

And when you start noticing who's involved… it gets interesting very quickly.

Big global corporations moving into pet food. The same companies moving into veterinary networks. Insurance companies buying up pet insurance providers.

It's not random.

And I don't say that to be dramatic… just to say: when something is that big, that influential, that profitable… it's worth asking questions.

Not to panic. Just to understand.

Because I made this mistake myself.

I spent far too long trying to find the "perfect" kibble. Reading labels. Comparing brands. Trying to get it right.

And now I look back and think… maybe I was asking the wrong question.

Not: "What's the best kibble?"

But: "Why is this the system in the first place?"

Me and the doggy man… chasing Key West sunsets 🌅🐾

That's what Dog Blueprints is really about.

Not telling you what to do. Not shaming anyone. But helping you understand enough to make your own decisions with confidence.

What goes into your dog's bowl. What actually supports their body. What might be causing issues we don't immediately connect.

And how small, everyday choices add up over time.

We're going back to regular programming now. But this time with a clearer focus.

Less noise. More understanding. More honest questions.

Next email… how kibble is made. The heat, the pressure, the synthetic sprays. And why you need to care.

Not in a scary way… just in a clear, “you should probably know this” way.

Thank you for sticking with me.

So we're going to keep asking better questions.

Not because it's trendy… not because it's controversial…

but because our dogs don't get a say in any of this.

And they're relying on us to get it right.
